If it’s a life-threatening emergency, CALL 911. The dispatcher will advise you from there.
If it’s not a life-threatening emergency call your primary physician. But if you can’t get in to see your doctor, because it’s after hours or your doctor is just too busy and you can’t wait, then your options are either the ER or an urgent care center.
If a patient needs a CAT scan or an MRI, take them to the ER. Similarly, if a patient is unconscious, has trouble breathing or is in such stress it’s hard for them to move, then go to the ER and/or CALL 911.
Most people don’t realize that 90% of their doctor visits can be handle professionally, quickly, and efficiently by an urgent care center, even if it’s an emergency.
If you’re well enough to walk in, you probably can be treated for just about anything at an urgent care center (usually at a lesser cost than at a hospital ER). Afterward you can follow-up with the same urgent care center or with your primary doctor.
At Urgent Care Center of Folsom we offer quick, professional ER care, as well as routine medical treatment—even after hours. Regardless of the reason for your visit, no appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are always welcome.
